PREPARATORY YEAR PROGRAM TEACHING STAFF   STRUCTURE OF THE PREPARATORY YEAR PROGRAM PYP TEACHING STAFF   STRUCTURE OF THE PREP YEAR PROGRAM Preparatory Year Program Prince Sultan Private College started the preparatory Year Program (PYP) as an introduction to its College degree courses. The purpose of this program is to prepare students in English, Mathematics, Information /Computer Science and Physical Education before they begin science and management degree courses as freshmen.  WHAT IS THE PYP?    The PYP or Preparatory Year Program, is an academic year of 9 months. It is divided into 2 semesters. In the fall semester, you study 001. In the spring semester, you complete 002. Each semester is a term of not less than 15 weeks of instruction. This does not include the registration and final examination periods.   Over these 2 semesters, there is a total of 870 hours of instruction in all subjects. This total breaks down as follows: 435 hours for 001 and 435 for 002. Spread over 15 weeks, this comes to 29 hours a week. Of these, 20 hours are given to English, 4 to Maths, 3 to ICS, and 2 to PE. English, therefore, has 4 lessons per day.   If necessary, there will also be an 8-week Summer School. This is designed for students who have not gained the minimum grade of C in 002, but who wish to enter freshman year (101) in the following fall semester.   TEACHING STAFF   The college teachers, usually called faculty, are competent and highly qualified. All have at least one Master's degree, and many have doctorates too. College policy requires that all English faculty be native speakers. They come from such countries as the UK, the USA, Australia, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand. Science faculty may not be native speakers, but they are fluent in the language and also conduct their classes in English.
